Skinned Predators & Other Things We Didn’t See in AVP: REQUIEM

Ever since the release of Shane Black’s The Predator on Blu-ray/DVD and VOD last month, we’ve seen a torrent of unused concept art created for the film hit the internet. Mostly, they feature a menagerie of animal/Predator hybrids that never came to fruition. We’ve also heard news regarding alternate endings, including two attempts to reconnect the Predator and Alien franchises.

The second Alien vs Predator movie, AvP: Requiem (directed by The Brothers Strause), was poorly received, ending hopes for a trilogy; later, Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel films (Prometheus and Alien: Covenant) retconned the franchise making it incompatible with the AvP universe. So, while we may never see the two franchises dovetail perfectly, we’re getting word that AVP Requiem could have been a much different film.

One of our favorite UK film critics/academics Mr. H is an expert at unearthing unmade scripts and “lost” footage from projects that (for whatever reason) failed to manifest. Recently, he produced a video about what we didn’t see in AvP: Requiem. Most intriguing are images of Predators skinned and desecrated by the Pre-Alien! Give his video a spin at the top of the article; you can peep the synopsis and trailer for AvP: Requiem below.

Synopsis:
Residents (Steven Pasquale, Reiko Aylesworth, John Ortiz) of Gunnison, Colorado, are caught up in the crossfire when two deadly extraterrestrial species bring their longstanding conflict to Earth. On the one side, nearly indestructible Aliens; on the other, a lone Predator whose mission is to wipe out all traces of the Alien infestation from Earth, no matter who gets in the way.

What do you think about the skinned Predators we didn’t see in AvP: Requiem? Do you think the film could have succeeded with a bigger budget? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!
