Burt Reynolds Passed Away Before Filming his Part for ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD

We’ve been keeping our eyes on Quentin Tarantino’s next project, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, currently filming in Los Angeles. Though not about Charles Manson and The Manson Family murders specifically, it includes characters based on many of the real-life participants and victims of the cult’s murderous rampage. The cast is a whos-who of A-Listers, including Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Al Pacino, Kurt Russell, Timothy Olyphant, Dakota Fanning, and Margot Robbie among many others.

Unfortunately, the recent passing of cinematic legend Burt Reynolds last Thursday means that one part will have to be recast. He was retained to play George Spahn, the real-life owner of a dilapidated ranch once used to film westerns where The Manson Family lived during their reign of terror. Reynolds’ niece Nancy Lee Hess told THR:

“My uncle was looking forward to working with Quentin Tarantino, and the amazing cast that was assembled.”

No word on who Tarantino will recast in the important supporting role. Whoever gets the part, there will always be a tinge of sadness over the fact that Reynolds most certainly would have been amazing. As for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the film is still targeting a July 26th, 2019 release date. We’ll keep you posted as additional details emerge.

Synopsis:
A faded TV actor and his stunt double embark on an odyssey to make a name for themselves in the film industry during the Helter Skelter reign of terror in 1969 Los Angeles.
