INSIDIOUS: THE LAST KEY Now the Highest-Grossing Entry in the Series

Looks like Blumhouse’s Insidious: The Last Key is now the highest-grossing chapter in the famous horror franchise. Yes, the fourth entry has just gathered an impressive international box office haul over $100 million.

This is a first for the hit series which has (thus far) snagged $100.1 million internationally. Add in the film’s domestic take of $67 million and that brings the worldwide total to $167 million. The film bowed higher than all three of the previous Insidious installments when it opened overseas January – April this past year and performed best in Indonesia (huh) but also did gangbusters in Mexico, the UK, Russia, France, and Brazil.

Insidious: Chapter 2 was the previous highest-grossing film in the series taking in $78M abroad for a total of $161M worldwide. All of this is to say that we can be almost 100% positive that there will be an Insidious 5. And possible an Insidious 6 & 7 while we’re at it.

Synopsis:

Brilliant parapsychologist Elise Rainier receives a disturbing phone call from a man who claims that his house is haunted. Even more disturbing is the address — 413 Apple Tree Lane in Five Keys, N.M. — the home where Elise grew up as a child. Accompanied by her two investigative partners, Rainier travels to Five Keys to confront and destroy her greatest fear — the demon that she accidentally set free years earlier.
