We’ve been counting down the days ever since we learned that Season 2 of “The Exorcist” will be kicking off at the end of September. We should have even more news for you following the show’s panel during the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con on July 20th, but in the meantime a bit of casting news came out today… read on for the details!
Per Deadline, Deadpool‘s Brianna Hildebrand (pictured right) has landed one of the female leads opposite the previously announced new cast member John Cho in the upcoming second season of Fox’s horror drama. If you’ll be at SDCC, expect to see Hildebrand as part of the panel.
As we learned when Cho’s involvement was announced, Season 2 picks up with Father Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) and the now-collarless Marcus Keane (Ben Daniels) out of Chicago and on the road, searching out evil. Across the Atlantic, Father Bennett (Kurt Egyiawan) attempts to weed out those within The Vatican who have turned against God. Ultimately, Tomas and Marcus are led to Andrew Kim (Cho), a former child psychologist who runs a group home for five at-risk foster children on a secluded private island off the coast of Seattle. When one of the children under Andrew’s care is targeted by a powerful force, the two priests head west, setting themselves on a collision course with Hell.
Hildebrand (who will next be seen in the dark indie comedy Tragedy Girls) will play Verity, one of the aforementioned foster children. Being close to 18 years old, her time in the home is coming to an end; and while her tough exterior makes it seem as if she doesn’t care, in reality she would die for her siblings and Andrew.
Created by Jeremy Slater, “The Exorcist” comes to us from Morgan Creek Productions in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Slater, Sean Crouch, Rupert Wyatt, Roy Lee, James Robinson, David Robinson, and Barbara Wall serve as executive producers.
The series resumes on Friday, September 29th; expect lots more in the coming weeks!
