TIFF 2010: Sony Picking up James Wan’s Insidious

Everyone at the Toronto International Film Festival has been buzzing about James Wan’s Insidious (look for a review soon), and distro has swooped in faster than a pissed off Grim Reaper in Peter Jackson’s The Frighteners!

According to Deadline New York Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group is closing a deal for North American distribution rights to the ultra spooky film!

With Insidious Wan reunites with Saw co-writer Leigh Whannell on the film, which follows a young family that makes the terrifying discovery that the body of their comatose boy has become a magnet for malevolent entities while his consciousness lies trapped in the dark and insidious realm known as The Further.

Synopsis
“When proud parents take possession of an old house, an accident results in one of their sons falling into a coma. The tragedy doesn’t stop there when they are beset by vengeful spirits from another realm in this new chiller by the director and writer of Saw and by the producers of Paranormal Activity. The film stars Rose Byrne, Barbara Hershey and Patrick Wilson.”
