We've all heard the rumors about director Guillermo del Toro either not wanting to be part of another Hellboy flick, or talks of someone taking his place if the series rolls on. Just where does he stand right now?
In an interview with Sci Fi at the New York Comic Con, del Toro said he would be up for a third Hellboy feature if certain conditions were met, "If there was ever a third one, I would really make sure that we at least sign a contract that there is no more. No prequels and no sequels: nothing. If that happens, then there is a third one we have planned, and the seeds are planted in this film."
OK, let's say the studio did agree to that; what would we be in store for if a second and final sequel were to be made? Guillermo has some ideas, "The idea for me is to bring back the Nazis characters, but bring them back in a way they would operate now. Meaning, what public face would the Nazis have in 2009/2010? How rich would they be? How in charge could they be? It's not this group of freakies that hide in the sewers, but people that are incredibly rich."
Hellboy II: The Golden Army hits theatres on July 11th, 2008 and in other Guillermo news, he has been picked up to direct The Hobbit and an unnamed sequel that deals with the 60 years between that book and the start of the Ring Trilogy according to Variety.

Yeah, I fight with my boss and co-workers all the time. Me and my boss just scrapped it up this morning to the point that everyone else left the room. But now we're fine. Why do celebs get held to this standard that every arguement is the end of the world?
I loved HELLBOY. Then again, I'm a huge huge huuuuuge fan of both the comics and the film, and the character itself. The film HELLBOY really grew on me, and now it's a bi-monthly watch for me.
As for the falling out...who cares? People fight and get over it or don't. Big F-ing deal.
I hope Hellboy2 is better than Hellboy was. If not, I couldn't care less if there's another one...
All I want is more Kroenen, clockwork nazi zombie ninjas kick ass.
There is NO WAY the company will go for those terms. Consequently, I'd like a picture of Del Toro in his "Hellboy 3 Without Me!" T shirt.
Not likely. Del Toro has just FINALLY confirmed he's directing THE HOBBIT.
Say what?! Why the heck would del Toro insist on there not being any more? There could be a dozen HELLBOY films if they're successful. I'm totally confused by the logic, there.
And that is great news on THE HOBBIT. While it's not horror, I think del Toro is an excellent choice. Which, of course, means we may not be seeing any more HELLBOY for another 5-6 years. Which could be why Universal, who are on a big monster kick these days, may be looking for another director to continue things.
Yes... it was quite compelling... *chortles*
So much for his "well documented" falling out.
I'm there.
Hellboy II is going to be HUGE! Based on that there will be a HellBoy III, but no studio is going to be willing to cauterize this franchise!
