Looks like the news we’ve all been waiting for has finally broke; the identity of the new Jason Voorhees for the Friday the 13th remake that’s on its way form Platinum Dunes (it’ll be gritty!)
B-D got word that Derek Mears (Chameleon from The Hills Have Eyes 2) is finalizing all the legalities to make his donning of the hockey mask official. I know the name doesn’t mean much to you now but trust me; this is a great choice. Though I was really excited at the possibility of Michael Bailey Smith getting the role, this is just as good.
I got to meet Mears on the Hills 2 set and you couldn’t ask for a cooler guy, or more of a geek. Through and through this guy is one of us, he’s just playing the game instead of writing about it. Hopefully there won’t be any snags and this’ll be a good omen for what could potentially be a very bad idea considering Dunes track record with remakes.
Wonder how this will all turn out in the Dread Central forums!

I have no preference either way. But, I'm suprised more people aren't up in arms about Hodder not being Jason like when he wasn't cast in Freddy vs Jason.
I am so glad that Kane Hodder is not going to be Jason. What a waste of space that dude is.
he's GREATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
As soon as I saw this thread go up, I said "I'll betcha it's Michael Bailey Smith." I have to say, i am pleasently surprised.
Still gonna suck balls.
"He might be 'one of us', but he still appeared in The Hills Have Eyes 2."
True dat, but hey, people gotta eat.
I MISS KANE. ::pouts::
He might be 'one of us', but he still appeared in The Hills Have Eyes 2.
Remember, being a geek doesn't mean he's going to be a great Jason, nor does it mean the suck factor will decrease significantly. Are they still going with those stupid underground tunnels idea?
