Demons, zombies, police; it’s all a matter of course for Davi de Oliveria Pinheiro, a Brazilian director who is getting ready to shoot his feature film debut, the horror/fantasy Beyond the Grave.
Beyond the Grave stars Rafael Tombini as Lockheart, a vengeful cop on the trail of demonic serial killer Adam across the zombie-infested wastelands of a dystopian Brazil. “The script is a mix of everything I love about cinema and fantasy” Davi said in a press release, “It's a movie made with passion, heart and, a la Alejandro Jodorowsky, balls”
Balls are an important element in horror cinema if you want to get noticed, so we wish the best of luck to the Brazilian. His home country has been producing some great horror for decades, most of it flying in under the radar, but it’s clear they want as much attention on Beyond the Grave as they can get.
Shooting on Beyond the Grave begins on February 14th, 2008, so expect to hear more on it soon! You can eyeball the first teaser for it right here to get an idea of what they’re going for in terms of style, and check out some storyboards from the film below!
