The upcoming CG animated monster comedy Igor, about a hunchback with aspirations to someday be a mad scientist, has signed a unique game deal with Interactive Game Group according to this morning’s Daily Variety.
IGG is financing the game, which will be made for the Nintendo DS and Wii as well as PCs and mobile devices, but Legacy Interactive will actually be the ones creating it. Nothing about the deal is all that different from the usual video game deal save that the company making it aren’t actually the ones financing it.
There’s not enough time to develop an Igor game for the Xbox 360 or PS3 if they want it out the same time as the movie (next October) but since it will be a kids film (with monsters!), the systems it will be done for make sense. Discussion on bringing in voice talent from the movie, Steve Buscemi, John Cleese, John Cusack, etc. is still going on but I’m sure will work itself out.
