Sara Gran’s 2003 novel Come Closer was called by some as the scariest tale of the year. So it’s no surprise that it’s finally making its way to the big screen; I just wonder what took so long.
30 Days of Night co-writer Brian Nelson is penning the adaptation, which will be directed by Carter (The Ruins, "Bugcrush") Smith for Miramax according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Come Closer is the story of a woman being terrorized by bizarre experiences that may or may not be happening and violent impulses that are all too real. A bit vague, yes? You can just click here to get the book through Evilshop and clear it all up!
So why did it take so long to finally get made? Typical Hollywood bullshit, it seems, with the project having passed through various hands since virtually right after the book was published. Luckily it landed with a talented writer/director pair behind it, something that happens far too rarely in Tinsel Town these days.
