Rob Zombie Rips Remake!
In the latest Rock! Shock! and Horror issue of Revolver Magazine, Rob Zombie and fellow rocker Marilyn Manson get down and dirty about several of their recent/current projects and reveal their best and worst horror movie lists. Speaking of which...
Smack dab in the middle of Zombie's worst list he had some choice and rather ironic comments about Gus Van Sant's Psycho remake.
"I picked this not because it's the worst film ever made, but because it's the most pointless film ever made. To take a perfect movie made by a genius, and remake it - that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life."
You know, sometimes we have to think that Zombie is just fucking with us. For the rest of the list check your local newsstand now! Now if you'll excuse us we're gonna go outside and beat our faces against the nearest tree. Thanks.

In all fairness, Hitch is universally considered a genius. Whereas I think Carpenter is likewise a genius, some of the critics and fans do not.

uhhh, Rob Halloween was made by a genius and your Halloween was kinda pointless in the second half with the brutal violence and laughable dialogue i.e "Jesus Christ Michael"- Dr. Loomis
so Rob if your going to rip on other remakes well u didn't really make a great remake either.

Gus Van Sant is an accomplished and incredible filmmaker who was merely providing an experimental and in many ways feeding his hubris as a filmmaker and artist.
Rob Zombie remade a classic horror film for a meal ticket in to the mainstream is now directing ad campaigns for detergent and pesticide.
Clearly Zombie lacks the ability to recognize irony or is too egomaniacal to recognize he directed one of the worst remakes of all time and its sequel.

So Gus Van Sant didn't do a shot for shot remake of PSYCHO for a meal ticket then? Interesting.
I love seeing you talk about remakes. It's really quite entertaining.

What does your response have to do with the price of bananas?

That they're worth a lot more than your website right about now? They also go well with peanut butter. Unless you're not a fan of original peanut butter and are waiting for a remake that you'll actually like?

But how can the nun eat the pie without milk? That's crazy.

You want to talk crazy? I think it's insane that you think that was actually funny.
Although you are a walking punchline so I guess it all works out in the end.

The PSYCHO remake is far less blasphemous because it was experimental filmmaking not a real remake. HALLOWEEN was way more offensive.

If I remember correctly, Van Sant experimented with the shot for shot remake and then was planning on a modern remake in a more punk rock mood. I could have misread but yeah, Van Sant's Psycho is much less heinous than Zombieween.

Haha! Very funny! XD Love the magazine cover too.
Do I see Scream 2 on there? O.o I personally thought it was the best of the sequels! (And I love all the scream movies, no matter how silly they got)

True, the irony is thick there.
I'd say his Halloween 2 ranks up there are one of the worst wide release horror movies ever.

You know, alot of people feel that way about Halloween. Thats kind of a funny statement coming from Zombie. Although I do agree the Psycho remake is a true piece of crap. Pretty much word for word, scene for scene. I at least appreciate that Zombie added His own touch to Halloween. No way in hell it comes close to the original...but it was ok. And the sequal? Great death scenes, but a lousy movie.
