Hugh Laurie Leaves RoboCop Redux
Some casting changes are happening on the RoboCop remake as Hugh Laurie, who was scheduled to play the film's villain, has left the production. MGM is now eyeballing Clive Owen and a few others to take his place. Stay tuned.
Jose Padilha's film is gearing up for a September start in Toronto and thus far stars Joel Kinnaman as the title hero plus Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Jay Baruchel, Michael Kenneth Williams, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Abbie Cornish, and Jackie Earle Haley.
Currently RoboCop has a tentative release date of August 9th, 2013.
In RoboCop the year is 2029, and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe, and now they want to bring this technology to the home front.
Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father, and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes its remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life.
