Hugh Jackman Becomes One of the Prisoners

Hugh Jackman has been locked to take the lead in the upcoming thriller Prisoners, directed by Denis Villeneuve (Incendies) and written by Aaron Guzikowski (Contraband).

Variety reports that this project has been in various development stages at Alcon since 2009 and will begin shooting early next year. The delay? Jackman is shooting another one of those little X-Men movies first (or another Wolverine, more accurately). There's a target release date of late 2013 through a deal with Warner Bros.

The story surrounds a small-town carpenter whose young daughter and best friend are kidnapped. After the cops fail to find them, Keller takes the law into his own hands but in the process runs up against the big city detective assigned to the case.
