Ridley Scott Talks Prometheus and Sheds Light on Guy Pearce's Character
The hard working folks over at AVP Galaxy have scored themselves some nifty new info regarding Ridley Scott's Prometheus and what role Guy Pearce's character will play in the film. Read on for the details.
According to the site, which sources Alien Prequel News for the unconfirmed tidbit, Scott recently spoke with InterCom (Press), the largest film distributor in Hungary, and their chat arrived online via Hungarian website Mozinezo. The following is based on a little Google-based translating:
“When the first ‘Alien’ movie and ‘Blade Runner’ were made, I thought that in the near future the world will be owned by large companies. This is why we have the Tyrell Corporation in ‘Blade Runner’ and Weyland-Yutani in ‘Alien’. They sent the Nostromo spaceship. The Prometheus is owned by an entrepreneur called Peter Weyland, and he is played by Guy Pearce. That’s the connection between the two films, and nothing more. Prometheus is a new film, a new world, and is full of new ideas. And of course new monsters as well.“
It was also revealed a few weeks ago that Pearce is only in the film for about a minute.
Prometheus, starring Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Patrick Wilson, Logan Marshall-Green, and Ben Foster, will be in theaters on June 8th, 2012.
Ridley Scott, director of 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner,' returns to the genre he helped define. With 'Prometheus' he creates a groundbreaking mythology in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
