Jack the Giant Killer Takes a BIG Bump
Well now. This sucks. After a truly stellar trailer that's had us excited since it debuted, Warner Brothers has announced that the new film from Legendary Pictures and director Bryan Singer, Jack the Giant Killer, has been bumped from its June 15th release date to March 22, 2013.
Nicholas Hoult, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Warwick Davis, Bill Nighy, Ian McShane, Eleanor Tomlinson, and Eddie Marsan all star.
Synopsis
A modern fairy tale in which the long-standing peace between men and giants is threatened, as a young farmer (Hoult) leads an expedition into the giants' kingdom in hopes of rescuing a kidnapped princess.

Apparently it's "for competitive reasons" - Madagascar 3 is coming out the week before the original release date with Disney's Brave due a week later.

Still a bit much; I mean last summer there were about 20 "tentpole/franchise" releases; which is almost unheard of. If they knocked it to the end of June all they'd have to worry about is GI Joe 2 (imo probably gonna be the under-performer of the summer). July the only "big" releases are Dark Knight, Spiderman, and Ice Age all on different weeks. Put it against Ice Age; both films appeal to different demographics. Or; wait till August, only big ones are Total Recall, Bourne 4 (sans Matt Damon), Expendables 2, and Paranorman.
Quite sad over this, imo overreaction.
