What Lurks on The Lost Island?

So you say you're a fan of mysterious, uncharted land masses in the hidden reaches of the ocean, but you've seen every episode of "Gillian's Island", and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island is a bit too tame for you? Well, leave it to the French, who have been genre filmmaking all-stars lately, and prepare for The Island: The Castaways of the Lost Island (L'ile: Les Naufrages de la Terre Perdue).

We've got the seriously boss English-subtitled trailer for you to check out below. From what we can put together, there's a wicked plane crash, leaving several men stranded in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean in 1942. They wash up on a remote island and discover that something is already there... and it's not the Professor hanging out with a TV set made out of coconuts. From what we can tally, you can count on a hidden chamber, an invaluable treasure, and a gatekeeper that we'll bet is going to be really difficult to get along with.

The film stars Michel Béatrix, Cyrielle Debreuil, Paul Descombes, Kaddour Dorgham and Jérémy Duplot Jr. Check out more info on the official The Island: The Castaways of the Lost Island website. Known as Lost Island for short, the film was released in France last year but is planning for an American release in 2012. There is currently a French DVD/Blu-ray version with English subs.
