B-Sides: They Call Him Bud the Chud

If you were to ask me to list the absolute worst movies I have ever subjected myself to and I failed to list Chud II: Bud the Chud near the top of that list, it is only because I’ve worked very hard to try to block the memory of that rancid film from my mind. And yet, here I am paying homage to the film’s corny theme song. Am I a masochist or what?
If Troll 2 is the best worst movie, then CHUD II: Bud the Chud is a contender for worst worst movie. The film’s screenwriter, Ed Naha, must have agreed since he took his name off of the film, instead billings himself as M. Kane Jeeves.
It was bad enough that CHUD II: Bud the Chud had absolutely nothing to do with the original movie and that the CHUDs were just fanged zombies that didn’t look like CHUDs; what made it all worse was how this appalling Return of the Living Dead rip-off tried and failed so miserably to be a comedy. The original CHUD is hardly great cinema, but even taken as a bad movie, it’s highly entertaining. You cannot laugh at a bad comedy because the main source of its failing is its attempts to be funny. I hate this movie so much.
Still, I would be lying if I said the “Bud the Chud” theme song isn’t kind of catchy in a lame-brained sort of way. With music by veteran composer Nicholas Pike, lyrics by Mick Garris’ wife Cynthia, and vocals by Kipp Lennon, this weekend’s B-Sides is indeed the self-titled theme song to the 1989 waste of celluloid CHUD II: Bud the Chud. The video below, most fittingly, hails from the best part of that awful, awful, awful movie: the end credits.

As an aside, I really miss the days of songs being tailored specifically for the movie to the point where they don't work out of context.

The movie is pretty awful, but the impromtu Thriller-style zombie dance on the steps of the school automatically lifts it above the "worst ever" list.

Twilight is the high water mark for unwatchable pure asinine shit. Compared to Twilight Chud 2 is cinematic chocolate.

Man, I only remember seeing previews for this on Cinemax or some pay channel in the early 90's. Not sure I'd call it one of the worst ever but what I've seen is certainly awful.

worse then conan Foy? and second I watched Bud the Chud with the Fast-Forward button and it was still pretty bad :(
