Make-Up Effects Group to Bring I, Frankenstein to Life

I, FrankensteinAlthough there isn't a ton of information available yet dealing with the upcoming horror film I, Frankenstein, we do have something that we can verify as true... Make-Up Effects Group, the incredibly diverse Australian team behind the Matrix films and the highly anticipated upcoming The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, will be handling the special make-up effects for I, Frankenstein.

Bringing a very impressive resume to the film, Make-Up Effects Group has worked on a number of recognizable films and hopes to put its stamp on I, Frankenstein as well. For more on the company visit the Make-Up Effects Group website.

Here's the official announcement:

We are really excited to announce that Make-up Effects Group have been given the job to create all the special make-up effects for the feature film I, Frankenstein. We’ve already created some cool conceptual demon sculptures that Stuart (director Stuart Beattie) and the team loved. Currently we are developing the Frankenstein “look” for actor Aaron Eckhart. It's about to go into life-casting over-drive, as all the actors come in to have their head casts done. MEG are looking forward to doing something very special for the show.

In addition to the F/X team and Aaron Eckhardt, who absolutely rocked as Harvey Dent/Two-Face in The Dark Knight, we also know that Yvonne Strahovski will be featured in the cast. Last we heard, Bill Nighy and Socratis Otto were in talks for the flick.

I, Frankenstein was written and is to be directed by Stuart Beattie and is based on a graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux, co-creator of the Underworld franchise. Lionsgate will distribute the film in the United States, Lakeshore will handle international sales, and E1/Hopscotch will distribute in Australia. A U.S. release is slated for February 22, 2013.
