Another True Blood Casting Update: Valentina Cervi Joins the Fray
We're still several months away from the summer, 2012 return of "True Blood" on HBO, and even though we're pretty sure we're not alone in thinking a major problem with the show lately has been its bloated cast, news of new guest stars/recurring characters for Season 5 has been coming in fast and furious. The latest? Italian Italian actress Valentina Cervi.
According to TVLine Cervi (Jane Eyre) will play Salome, an ancient vampire who is a world class seductress and fiercely intelligent. She also has quite a lot of madness in her. She is the most powerful person in every way yet capable of hiding this power when it serves her purposes.
Interesting name choice considering that (per Wikipedia) Christian traditions typically depict Salome as an icon of dangerous female seductiveness, for instance depicting as erotic her dance mentioned in the New Testament (in some later transformations further iconised to the dance of the seven veils), or concentrate on her lighthearted and cold foolishness that, according to the gospels, led to John the Baptist's death.
Only time will tell what and who else the new season of "True Blood" will bring, but stay tuned, and we'll keep you posted!
