Short Film Debut: Paper Rock, Scissors
One thing we pride ourselves on at Dread Central is how many of our staff members have spread their wings and tried other things besides giving you the best news and review coverage we can. That being said, it's with great pleasure that we debut the first (and supposedly only) directorial effort from our own Heather Wixson, her short film Paper Rock, Scissors.
Starring Aaron Pruner ("VR Troopers") and Corbett Tuck (Insidious), Paper Rock, Scissors was directed by Wixson and written by Bryan Ryan (The Guest, Tresspasser). The short film was shot and edited by Brian Smith with original music by Dwayne Cathey and special make-up effects by Kelsey Boutte.
"I'm incredibly proud of everyone's work on Paper Rock, Scissors, and I can't think of a better short film debut for me than this," said Wixson. "Growing up, I had two loves - horror and professional wrestling - and to be able to bring the two worlds together for this story is definitely a representation of my deep love for both. More comedy than horror, Paper Rock, Scissors is my quirky exploration of the obsessive nature of love, and hopefully you'll have as much fun watching it as I had making it with my incredible cast and crew."
Wixson continues, "To say anything more about the Paper Rock, Scissors story would ruin the 'reveal', but what I can say is that with the return of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to WWE Raw on Monday, November 14th, I couldn't have picked a better time to unveil the flick. To find out just how Dwayne fits into our twisted little love story, you'll have to watch the short film and see for yourself."
