Mile High Horror Film Festival Short Film Bundle Now Available On DemandLittleton, Colorado’s Mile High Horror Film Festival is happening this weekend, and Devolver Digital Films has announced that a 75-minute bundle of ten horror shorts plucked from the fest is now available nationwide on VOD.

From the Press Release:
Independent film label Devolver Digital Films has formed a first-of-its-kind collaboration with Alamo Drafthouse’s Mile High Horror Film Festival to release Mile High Horror Shorts, a compilation of top short films from the annual festival. The 75-minute collection of screamers and slashers has been curated by the festival’s director, Timothy Schultz, and is available this month on cable Video On Demand. The broadcast marks a milestone for the medium of short film, a format that rarely sees commercial distribution and has never achieved a nationwide VOD release.

“Short films are often just expensive calling cards for a filmmaker,” says Devolver Digital’s co-founder Mike Wilson. “Their length makes them hard to individually program to viewers, so they often just end up giving them away online and barely having them seen. But audiences love short films, and you see tremendous creativity in them at festivals like Mile High Horror. We think a cable bundle curated by a noted horror fanatic will help many more fans get to enjoy them.”

Mile High Horror Film Festival’s Timothy Schultz agrees, “Some of the talent seen in horror shorts really deserves notice. It’s always fun to share them with audiences at Mile High, so I love the idea that more people will be able to see them in a home theater setting, the next-best thing to being able to come to the fest.”

Devolver Digital Films is also offering horror fans in Austin (Devolver’s hometown) a cinematic option to see the shorts this Halloween season: On October 23 it will kick off “Devolver Digital Third Wednesdays at the Ocho,” a monthly event at the Alamo Drafthouse Slaughter Lane, with a screening of Mile High Horror Shorts.
