AFM 2011: Twisted New Sales Art for Akuma
Alrighty, kids. It's time. Get ready for a barrage of imagery from this year's big dance in Los Angeles, AFM, starting with some really creepy sales art for the ghostly new flick Akuma.
Screen Media Films has secured worldwide distribution rights to director Deon Taylor's latest and is planning a U.S. theatrical release next fall. Below you'll find the artwork along with a promo trailer that doesn't feature any footage from the flick but is pretty damned spooky nonetheless.
Taylor wrote the screenplay with Blayne Weaver and Joe Bockol. The film will be shot in Los Angeles, Sacramento, Japan and San Francisco. Shooting's scheduled to begin November 10th although no cast has been announced yet.
Akira Tanaka, a young and attractive but emotionally damaged Japanese woman, moves to the United States to escape a past marked by tragedy. She moves in with her sister, Hana, and her new husband, Adam, hoping to leave her demons behind and start a new life. But as Akira's behavior grows increasingly erratic and strange disturbances mark the night, Akira is forced to reveal her real reason for coming: to flee the malevolent spirit that has been tormenting her since childhood... and which appears to have followed her here.
