Silent Hill: Revelation Gets a Composer

Ask any fan of the Silent Hill video game franchise what one of the single most important aspects of the experience is, and we can pretty much guarantee you that the score makes everyone's top 5 mentions. It really does play a key part in enjoying all that the spooky town has to offer, and now news has come detailing who will be handling the music for the next adaptation of the foggy property!

According to director Michael J. Bassett's Blog, "Jeff Danna along with Akira Yamaoka will be composing the score for Silent Hill: Revelation. Still a few details to be ironed out but I’m confident that nothing stands in the way. I’m really pleased it’s the same team as the first movie as I thought that was a damn fine score. Obviously Akira is one of the greatest game sound designers and composers and he’s a fundamental part of what made Silent Hill the greatest series of survival horror games ever created. Jeff is a hugely gifted composer who has immersed himself in the Silent Hill universe so knows how to bring it all together for cinematic purposes. Together they’re going to blow us all away. Quite how they’re going to work is yet to be decided but I’m raring to get into this part of the process to start hearing what they come up with."

Pretty neat! Michael J. Bassett directs the sequel that stars Adelaide Clemens, Kit Harington, Sean Bean, Radha Mitchell, Deborah Kara Unger, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Malcolm McDowell.

Look for it in 2012 from Lionsgate.

I thought the score for the first movies was really good. This is looking better and better.
