Michael Fassbender to be One of the Prisoners?
It's been a while since there was any movement on the once hot Hollywood script for the flick Prisoners. Everyone from Leonardo DiCaprio to Christian Bale to Mark Wahlberg to directors Bryan Singer and Antoine Fuqua were attached to it at one time or another.
Now a new leading man is in Alcon Entertainment sights.
According to Coming Soon an offers is now out to actor Michael Fassbender (pictured right), who was last seen playing Magneto in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class.
If signed, Fassbender will land the lead role of Keller Dove, a carpenter and father of two who abducts and tortures the main suspect when one of his daughters goes missing in order to try to find the real kidnapper.
The film will mark the English language film debut of Incendies director Denis Villeneuve. That is, if he can remain director long enough to get this one done.
Based on Aaron Guzikowski's Black List script, Prisoners tells of a working-class Boston father whose young daughter is kidnapped, along with her friend. Frustrated by a local detective's handling of the case, the father takes as a hostage the man he believes committed the crimes. The Black List is an annual compendium of Hollywood’s top unproduced screenplays.
