Exclusive Video Interview: Rachel Nichols Talks Conan the Barbarian

In the upcoming Conan the Barbarian, actress and action veteran Rachel Nichols (Star Trek, GI Joe) portrays Tamara, a pureblood descendent of the Sorcerers of Acheron who becomes an accomplice and eventual love interest to the titular character (played by "Game of Thrones" star Jason Momoa).

Tamara, being of special lineage and one of the last of her kind, is being tracked by malicious warlord Khalar Zym (Stephen Lang, Avatar) and his equally evil daughter, Marique (Rose McGowan), who require Tamara's blood for a ritual that would grant Zym both immortality and the power he needs for world domination.

Recently Dread Central had the opportunity to talk exclusively with Nichols during Lionsgate's press day for the film and find out why she loves taking on roles that require her to kick a little ass as well as her experiences making Conan the Barbarian.

I just know they'll get this wrong.

I love Howard's Conan stories. They are some of the best works of literature in the history of the English language. They leap off the page and into the mind's eye. A single sentence can paint an entire scene in your head.

Hollywood won't do this right. All they needed to do was take Red Nails and follow the story word for word. Instead we're likely to get a generic Hollywood fantasy with a dumb barbarian as the focus.

The original Conan movie did get one thing right Basil Poledouris wrote an amazing score for it.
