San Diego Comic-Con 2011: Fright Night Press Conference Coverage
On August 19th horror fans everywhere will finally be able to see for themselves whether or not the remake of the Tom Holland classic film Fright Night will deliver on all the bloody goodness when the film finally makes its way into theaters in 3D.
In anticipation of the film’s impending release, the cast of Fright Night, as well as director Craig Gillespie and writer Marti Noxon, were all on hand during the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con last week to discuss their take on the modern vampire subgenre of horror.
Gillespie and Noxon were joined by Fright Night stars Colin Farrell (“Jerry Dandridge”), Anton Yelchin (“Charlie”), Imogen Poots (“Amy”), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (“Evil Ed”), and Chris Sarandon, who not only portrayed Jerry in the original film but also has a very prominent cameo in this updated version.
Dread Central was on hand for the press conference last Friday during SDCC and got the lowdown on how Gillespie and the gang wanted to make a vampire flick that was the absolute opposite of the romanticized vampires we’ve seen become popular over the last few years, Noxon’s approach to updating the story of the beloved classic for new audiences, Sarandon’s thoughts on the updated film, and so much more.
Because everyone at the Fright Night press conference had a lot to say about the film, we wound up with two videos that you can check out below, and make sure to keep an eye out here for more on Fright Night, including exclusive video interviews and our complete set visit, coming your way very soon!
