Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum Returning for Independence Day Sequel“We will not go quietly into the night!” News continues to roll in on the 2015 Independence Day sequel, and we’ve gotten word that two of the main characters from the original film will indeed be returning for the sequel.

Yesterday we announced that Will Smith will not be reprising his role of Captain Steven Hiller in the sequel, which is currently carrying the title ID Forever: Part 1; however, we do know that Bill Pullman (pictured), who played President Thomas J. Whitmore in Independence Day, will indeed be back for the new film. If you need a reminder of his performance, check out the cool video interpretation of Pullman’s legendary speech from the movie. “Today is our Independence Day!” Classic! Jeff Goldblum will be returning as well.

So to recap the recent reports, we know that Pullman and Goldblum are in, Smith is out and the title is tentatively ID Forever: Part 1, the first of a two-part film. We’ve also learned via Huff Post that Roland Emmerich’s film will include a gay character. Although in this day and age you would think this fact would fall into the “not important” category, we’re including it to be thorough with the latest updates.

The release is currently set for July 3, 2015. Mark your calendars!
