Menacing New Artwork for Mischief Night; First Release Info

Mischief. We love mischief. We especially love mischief that leads to a night of murder and frightening mayhem. That kind is the best for sure. That being said, some new artwork and release plans have arrived for the film Mischief Night.

RUTHLESS PICTURES and GMI FILMS announce the theatrical release date for MISCHIEF NIGHT and unveil the film’s theatrical one-sheet. The filmmakers have just completed post-production and plan to open the movie in select theaters on October 25, 2013. The new poster reveals a terrifying first look at “The Intruder” in this exciting new take on the home invasion thriller genre and sets the tone for what the filmmakers hope to be “the next iconic character in horror.”
Mischief Night tells the story of a terrifying home invasion the night before Halloween. Young Emily Walton, who has suffered from psychosomatic blindness ever since the car accident that took her mother’s life, must summon every instinct at her disposal to protect herself and her loved ones from a mysterious intruder.
With the theatrical release date now set, writer/director Richard Schenkman shares his thoughts after finishing a grueling production schedule. “It’s been a mad dash, but we’ve made it across the finish line and ‘Mischief Night’ is finished. I could not be more pleased with how it all came together. It looks great and sounds great — the score by Anastasia Devana is powerful and evocative, Richard Vialet’s photography is beautiful, and the entire cast gave it everything they had. I think we’ve made a film which not only will please genre fans, but also a more general audience.” When asked about the movie’s overall tone, Schenkman replied, “While the picture is packed with genuine scares as well as some shocking and cathartic violence, I believe there’s a powerful emotional through line, dealing with themes of grief, forgiveness, fear, and love. I’ve been told that in some ways the movie feels very ‘old school,’ calling to mind the original ‘Halloween’ and even ‘Wait Until Dark,’ but it’s absolutely contemporary in tone and look. Thriller fans old and new will find plenty to love here, and I can’t wait to share it with audiences this October.”
Producer Eric D. Wilkinson, who is overseeing the marketing of the movie leading up to the theatrical release, shares his thoughts on the positioning of the film: “We were torn regarding how much to reveal on the movie’s theatrical one-sheet. Our effects team created such a great look for Adam Edwards’ ‘Intruder’ that I really believe he could become the next iconic character in horror. Works Design Group (our graphic design team) came up with a lot of great ideas for the poster, but I know fans of the genre want a peek at the bad guy, and all of the other comps we created just paled in comparison. I’m proud to have this image be the anchor for our theatrical poster. It sets the tone and gives a powerful first look at what’s in store.”
The talented ensemble cast is led by experienced young actress Noell Coet (Cowgirls ‘n Angels, 5 Time Champion), and also includes veteran actor Daniel Hugh Kelly (Cujo, Someone to Watch Over Me, The Good Son), Charlie O’Connell (Dude, Where’s My Car, Cruel Intentions, Sliders), Erica Leerhsen (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Anything Else), Ally Walker (“Sons of Anarchy,” While You Were Sleeping, Universal Soldier), Stephanie Erb (The Ring, Starship Troopers), Richard Riehle (Bridesmaids, A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas), Adam C. Edwards (Flight, The Quiet Ones), and Ian Bamberg (Second Time Around, Warrior Road).
Following the film’s theatrical release, Image Entertainment plans to release the film on DVD, VOD, and Digital in the first quarter of 2014.
