Drink Up Some Early Art for Backmask
Voltage Pictures today released some early artwork for director Marcus Nispel's latest horror flick Backmask, and as always we're right here to get it into your hot little hands. Or eyes. Or whatever.
Announced at Cannes, read on for the plot details of this Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Lords of Salem, The Bay) produced film.
Synopsis
During a sex, drugs, and rock-fueled party, six small-town teenagers find an old vintage record and decide to play it backwards in order to listen for any subliminal/satanic messages. Lo and behold, a seemingly malevolent spirit quickly infiltrates the group, wreaking havoc as it moves from one body to another.
Eventually, however, it's revealed that the spirit in question is actually trying to convey a message....and that the real source of horror isn't particularly paranormal, but rather something (or someone) much closer to home.

So the ghost victim of the killer is trying to stop the killer who is one of the primary characters.
Nothing new here so I guess it's all in the execution. Nispel is tehcnically sound but not a great story teller.
