Life on other planets? It’s a possibility that continues to fascinate us as other planets are found in our universe. All of these discoveries, UFO sightings and possible alien contactees make us ask questions about the mysteries of life.
For example, are aliens visiting our planet just for the hockey and beer? Or Canadian comedy? Or is it because Canadians are so damn nice?
According to an article in The Toronto Sun, UFO sightings in Canada have doubled in the past year. UFO Research posted its listings of annual UFO sightings, and the researchers claim there are more sightings because “more people are looking”. Experts (How do you get that title anyway? Is there an online application for that?) all agree most sightings can be chalked up to natural phenomena like rampant drunkenness. Still, eight percent of the sightings are unexplained.
The scientific community is starting to take the idea of life on other planets more seriously. Sunday, June 9th, on the Discovery Channel Canada, world renowned scientists are discussing the possibility of alien life in the documentary Aliens: The Definitive Guide. In all, however, most scientists agree that while there might be life on other planets, said life probably doesn’t have the ability to visit us due to the vast distances and perils of interstellar travel.
Too bad, they’ll miss the Stanley Cup finals this year, eh?
