Sam Neill Calls New Jurassic Park a Reboot

Don’t get your panties in a bunch just yet, folks. Some recent news has hit the wire stating that the recently delayed fourth Jurassic Park film is not a sequel, but rather a reboot or remake. However, odds are pretty good that this is just not the case.

This whole thing started when The Dominion Post asked Sam Neill about the upcoming flick and Neill stated, “I’m told it’s a big reboot, a total re-jig.” Now before you start lighting torches, just keep in mind that a fourth film can kick-start a franchise without remaking it. Think Scream 4. So really, let’s cool it a bit, shall we? Sometimes I hate the Internet.

In coordination with the filmmakers, Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a yet-to-be-determined later date than originally announced, giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal’s beloved franchise. Safety Not Guaranteed director Colin Trevorrow had been tapped to helm the next installment in the dino-rific series. Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver penned the script.
