Fright Night Trailer Debut

As promised in our recent article Fright Night 3D: Inside the Editing Bay, the trailer for said remake has hit the Internet, and of course we have it for your here in all its glory!

Look for Fright Night in theatres on August 19th, 2011.

Synopsis
Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right—but everyone, including Charlie’s mom (Toni Collette), doesn’t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.

Saw the trailer before Priest and sat their aghast at how terrible it looks. I realize that the original was a Rear Window remake with a vampire and that Disturbia was mostly a Rear Window remake for today's tweener audience, but what floors me is how much the Fright Night remake looks like an outright knock-off of Disturbia but with a vampire. Should have just called it Disturbia 2: Fright Night and brought back David Morse's serial killer as a vampire. Morse was a hell of a lot more menacing than anything I'm seeing from Colin Farrell's vamp.

I hope this means the original is getting the Blu-Ray treatment. Since we all know this will be the cinematic equivalent of a dead dog's fart.

"Can you smell that?"

Yes, that trailer definitely a fine order of FUCKING SHITE all about it.

I'm always so relieved when the studio releases a trailer that is not laden with spoilers... :/
