BloodRayne The Third Reich DVD and Blu-ray Announced

Could the third time be the charm for Uwe Boll's BloodRayne movies? We'll all find out when BloodRayne: The Third Reich hits DVD shelves a week after July Fourth. It took three movies to finally catch up to the plot of the video game, but this time the sexy half-vampire/half-human Rayne finally does battle with Nazis - the basis of the original BloodRayne game.

Half-vampire, half-human, Rayne hides in the shadows slaughtering vampires and those that get in her way. In 1943 Europe, during World War II, Rayne faces her greatest foe, a growing army of undead Nazi soldiers led by Ekart Brand, a top Nazi official turned day-walker. Rayne must team up with a group of Resistance Fighters to defeat Brand and his vampire troops before they return to Berlin and attempt to transform Hitler into a vampire and attain immortality.

Natassia Malthe returns to the title role, though this time the character's signature red hair is down to being a brunette with red tips. Michael Pare played a lawman in the previous Wild West BloodRayne sequel; this time he plays the evil Nazi plotting to inject Adolph Hitler with Rayne's blood in order to make him the ultimate fuhrer or something evil along those lines. Boll stalwart Brendan Fletcher (Rampage) co-stars. And how can you go wrong with Clint Howard cast as an evil Nazi scientist named Doctor Mangler?

Phase 4 Films will bring us the third installment of BloodRayne on July 12th in both the regular version and an "unrated director's cut". DVD and Blu-ray extras will include digital download, a making-of featurette, a commentary track with director Uwe Boll and screenwriter Michael Nachoff, an interview with writer Nachoff, an official trailer, and an alternate trailer.

British readers will get see BloodRayne: The Third Reich even sooner on May 2nd when the movie hits UK DVD (see below artwork).

Yeah so the DVD art is a slight hodge-podge of recycled Rayne's stance from BR2 and the artwork from 'Animals'. I like the title block though.

But, I'll give it a look, gotta admit I'm a bit curious. Boll has been on a bit of an upswing as of late so who knows.

Actually enjoyed the first one but thought the second was the worst of boll's videogame adaptions.
