Blue Underground Brings The Nesting to Blu-ray

Here's a movie I never thought would see the light of Blu-ray. A nostalgic favorite from my childhood, this is one of the films that spooked me beyond belief as a kid. Now, thanks to the wonderful people at Blue Underground, I can toss my bootleg VHS into the trash!

That's right! Blue Underground will be releasing the 1981 haunted whorehouse classic The Nesting to Blu-ray and DVD on June 28th. Blu-ray.com was the first to pick this story up, and they're reporting that this high definition bow will feature the never-before-seen director's cut. Extra features are sparse right now with only theatrical trailers, TV spots and a poster gallery announced. No matter, though; having a pristine copy of this film transferred from the original camera negative will be a sight to behold.

It's great to see Blue Underground release something new from their library, and what an acquisition this is! The Nesting combines the subtle scares of The Changeling with the gross-out delights of a slasher flick, and it's a winning combination for horror fans everywhere. Believe me, this is going to be a must buy.

Wow I've never even heard of this movie. Sounds interesting.

I vaguely remember seeing the VHS cover, but when I asked about it I was told the tape was broken. I've never seen this one and I'm extremely curious -- especially after the comparison to The Changeling above (I take that with a grain of salt as nostalgia often paints prettier pictures than reality).

It's like a trashier version of The Changeling.

It's not as well made as that film, of course, but it's still a good time. But you're right, Vanvance ... I haven't seen it in years.

Nothing's keeping me from the BD though..
