Wes Craven Offers Scream 4 Re-Shoot Clarification
Wes Craven has finally given the straight dope pertaining to the additional filming going on for Scream 4, and hopefully it will ease the minds of fans who believe the word "reshoots" mean the movie is in trouble.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly Craven shed some light on the subject. "They’re not reshoots,” Craven tells EW. “We had a couple test screenings and we saw two scenes where they had moments you could add to and we just saw a spectacular opportunity. Bob [Weinstein] just said to me basically, ‘You go to your dark side and I’ll give you the money!’ [Laughs] The two scenes were really good, but we saw how they could be spectacular, so we thought, let’s just go for it. They were key moments of the script, so we just decided to go back and go for the grand slam on them.”
There were also a few rumors circulating that the ending was being retooled as well. Not according to Craven. “No, the ending is totally kick-ass! We’re not gonna touch that. [The scenes being added to are] one scene that’s kind of in the late beginning and one scene that’s a little bit later.”
Scream 4 stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Britt Robertson, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, Nico Tortorella, Mary McDonnell, Alison Brie, Anthony Anderson, Aimee Teegarden, and Marielle Jaffe with confirmed cameos by Anna Paquin, Kristen Bell, Shenae Grimes, and Lucy Hale.
Look for Scream 4 in theatres on April 15th, 2011, and to stay on top of things, be sure to follow @wescraven on Twitter.
"Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale (Courteney Cox), who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) and her Aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell). Unfortunately Sidney's appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger."
