Scream 4: Why Sidney Heads Back to Woodsboro

It was revealed earlier this week that Lucy Hale of TV's "Privileged" and "Pretty Little Liars" (whatever those are) will be the opening kill of the long anticipated fourth entry into Wes Craven's Scream franchise. Immediately fans starting wondering what's so important about her. Could she have something to do with Sid's return to Woodsboro or does something else happen to lure her back? Well, you're about to find out.

In this week's Fall 2011 Preview issue of Entertainment Weekly, a blurb appeared regarding Scream 4 and Sidney's return to Woodsboro. You can dig on it below, but be warned that spoilers abound!

Scream 4 stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Britt Robertson, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, Nico Tortorella, Mary McDonnell, Anthony Anderson, Aimee Teegarden, and Marielle Jaffe with confirmed cameos by Anna Paquin, Kristen Bell, Shenae Grimes, and Lucy Hale.

Look for Scream 4 in theatres on April 15th, 2011, and to stay on top of things, be sure to follow @wescraven on Twitter.

"Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale (Courteney Cox), who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) and her Aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell). Unfortunately Sidney's appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger."

Okay, I'll be the first to bite. What does that EW blurb have to do with the opening kill? Does Lucy Hale play Sydney's father this time around? ;)

To be honest, I would have loved it if Lucy Hale had played her father. Now there's a tweeeest!
