Opening Victim of Scream 4 Revealed

If there's one thing the Scream franchise is known for other than asking lovelies what their favorite scary movie is, it's its opening death, which is reserved for a star to experience a quick bit of stab-happy goodness. Just who's on the menu for Scream 4, you ask? Prepare to find out!

Opening Victim Scream 4 RevealedIn an interview with Screen Junkies the answer became very apparent ... Lucy Hale of TV's "Privileged" and "Pretty Little Liars".

Lucy Hale couldn’t say who she plays in Scream 4, but if you’ve seen any Scream movie, you can figure it out. They each open with a prologue featuring a major star getting a scary phone call (or going to the movies in Scream 2).

“It’s a small role, which I was very happy to play,” Hale said. “I’m at the beginning of the movie. They literally made me sign stuff that I couldn’t say much about it but it’s very exciting. It was very exciting for me to be a part of it and meet Wes Craven who’s an absolute sweetheart. I didn’t know what to expect but it was fun.”

Hale knows the importance of that opening scene though. The very first one was Drew Barrymore.

“I know,” Hale said. “To be a part that has a cult following, to look back at Drew Barrymore’s opening scene and be like I’m a part of this. This is unreal. It’s really cool.”

Hale also explains that she was supposed to be more prominent in the movie.

“It was totally last minute. I got the call, and they were like, ‘They totally want you to be a part of this movie,’ and I was like, ‘Absolutely. I will do any part.’ I was actually originally supposed to do another part and would come back for Scream 5, but it didn’t work with the schedule. So I did a few scenes.”

Scream 4 stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Britt Robertson, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, Nico Tortorella, Mary McDonnell, Anthony Anderson, Aimee Teegarden, and Marielle Jaffe with confirmed cameos by Anna Paquin, Kristen Bell, Shenae Grimes, and Lucy Hale.

Look for Scream 4 in theatres on April 15th, 2011, and to stay on top of things, be sure to follow @wescraven on Twitter.

Synopsis
"Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale (Courteney Cox), who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) and her Aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell). Unfortunately Sidney's appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger."

Lucy Hale is not a major star, bwahahaha. She's not on star level of Drew Barrymore, she's barely on star level of Sarah Michelle Gellar. This will be a most underwhelming prologue in an assuredly underwhelming movie.

Finally a new Scream movie! It's about time, the original had sequel written all over it. In fact I don't feel the original is a complete story in and off itself and only succeeds in the context of the two brilliant sequels that followed, each better than the last.

I am especially impressed with Scream 3 which is likely the best horror movie ever made. There's no doubt 4 will be even better... and then if we get 5 it will surely be the greatest movie in the history of cinema!

P.S. It's 'say the stupidest thing you can about Scream 4 day'. Try and top this one.

I've read a spoiler review of the screening (could of course be horse shit...) and she is one of the first victims.
If the review is real, then they've upped the body count considerably...
Cant remember the link...I'll try to find it.

The mind is like a parachute...it only works when it is open.
