New Red State Poster Busts its Hymen
Never let it be said that Kevin Smith isn't a filmmaker with a conscience. The filmmaker has begun unveiling news bits of promo material for his latest film Red State as a means to reward fans who contribute cash to a truly worthy cause.
As per Smith's website:
"If you're a movie website or film journalist and you want to feature this poster or use it in a story, don't be a detail-thin dick. Be sure to tell people WHY the poster was released: because a bunch of generous fans pledged $1000 to The Wayne Foundation in less than 30 minutes. If you also include the link for the The Wayne Foundation in your story/article, you're not only being a thorough journalist, you're also helping to crack down on scumbag kid-fuckers. It only takes a few seconds longer to provide all available facts in any story. Including THIS fact can help save a child's life."
The flick stars John Goodman, Kyle Gallner, Melissa Leo, Dermot Mulroney, Michael Angarano, Steven Root, and Michael Parks.
"In the film a group of kids encounter a crazed preacher (based on Fred Phelps, founder of the Westboro Baptist Church) who gives a whole new meaning to the term 'extreme fundamentalism.'"
Those who follow the news closely may be aware of Phelps' "church". He and his followers believe that homosexuality is the root cause of almost every single problem in American history. Ironic that it's really only in America that such a person would be able to freely express his admittedly idiotic and close-minded viewpoint and gain national attention because of it.
