Piranha 3D Blu-Ray and DVD Specs Swim On In!

The most blissfully trashy and fun film of the year will be hitting home video to kick off the new year in January, and we've got the skinny on what you'll be able to expect!

From the Press Release
On January 11th, 2011, the hilariously gory, sexy action thriller PIRANHA shows its teeth on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD, courtesy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Directed by acclaimed genre filmmaker Alexandre Aja (High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes) and starring Oscar® nominee Elisabeth Shue (Best Actress in a Leading Role, 1995, Leaving Las Vegas), Adam Scott (TV’s “Party Down”, Leap Year), Jerry O'Connell (TV’s “The Defenders”, Scream 2), Ving Rhames (Dawn of the Dead, Mission: Impossible series), Steven R. McQueen (TV’s “Vampire Diaries”), Jessica Szohr (TV’s “Gossip Girl”) and sizzling Playboy cover girl Kelly Brock (The Italian Job), and with cameos by Eli Roth (Hostel series) and Hollywood legends Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws) and Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future series), PIRANHA sent critics and moviegoers into a frenzy of amusement this summer with its shocking mix of horror, humor and sex. Now action and horror fans can experience the movie The New York Times called “the future of cinema” at home with the latest in eye-popping, truly immersive high definition 3D home entertainment technology.

The PIRANHA Blu-ray and DVD include a swarm of killer bonus features, including deleted scenes, a filmmaker commentary, storyboard comparisons and extensive behind-the-scenes featurettes.

Featuring buckets of blood, gratuitous nudity and can’t miss cameos by Hollywood legends Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws) and Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future series), plus horror maestro Eli Roth (Hostel I and II), PIRANHA is destined to thrill every action, horror and thriller fan on land…or on water!

Synopsis
Every year the population of sleepy Lake Victoria explodes from 5,000 to 50,000 for Spring Break, a riot of sun and drunken fun. But this year, there's something more to worry about than hangovers and complaints from local old timers; a new type of terror is about to be cut loose on Lake Victoria. After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area’s new razor-toothed residents.

PIRANHA was written by Peter Goldfinger (Sorority Row) & Josh Stolberg (Sorority Row). It was produced by Alexandre Aja (P2), Mark Canton (300, Letters to Juliet), Gregory Levasseur (Mirrors, P2) and Marc Toberoff (Bottle Shock, It’s Alive). Executive producers are Bob Weinstein, Harvey Weinstein, Alix Taylor, Louis G. Friedman and J. Todd Harris. It was distributed by Dimension Films and has a run time of approximately 89 minutes. It is rated R for sequences of strong bloody horror violence and gore, graphic nudity, sexual content, language and some drug use.
