Rest in Peace Director Michael Winner

The world has lost another great one as Screen Daily reports that today (Jan. 21) director Michael Winner has passed on at age 77 at his home in Kensington, south London due to to heart and liver problems.

While the world will undoubtedly remember Winner for his vigilante films Death Wish, Death Wish 2, and Death Wish 3, Michael had also won over the hearts of genre fans everywhere with the incredibly creepy and disturbing film The Sentinel, which featured the late John Carradine as a clergyman sitting guard over the doorway to Hell.

Winner is survived by his wife, Geraldine, whom he met in 1957 when she was a ballet dancer. They married in 2011. We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to offer our sincerest of condolences to Winner’s family, friends, and constituents. Rest easy, good sir, and thank you for all that you gave.
