Sam Raimi to Deliver Us a New Day of the Triffids?

Great news coming in for fans who are excited about the proposed remake of Day of the Triffids! One of horror's best directors is in line to sit at the helm, and we're sure this will be one day audiences will never forget!

According to Deadline New York "Mandate Pictures, on behalf of Sam Raimi, has won a bidding war for the rights to produce The Day of the Triffids, with Raimi in line to direct (as it was his favorite film as a child). A shower of meteorites produces a glow that blinds anyone that looks at it. As it was such a beautiful sight, most people were watching; and as a consequence, 99% of the population go blind. In the original novel, this chaos results in the escape of some Triffids: experimental plants that are capable of moving themselves around and attacking people."

Lord only knows the type of stellar madness Raimi will bring to the table for this one! We just cannot wait!

I'm okay with this and think he'll do a good job.

At the same time I wish he'd tackled something that hasn't been done before.

After all, we already have the book and several movie versions.

Looking forward to the "they ripped off 28 Days Later" comments.

By the way.
The recent BBC remake (like all BBC remakes) is complete cack.
