Exclusive Survival of the Dead Commentary Track with Uncle Creepy and George A. Romero Now Available on BD Live!
For those not playing along, our own Uncle Creepy has done several commentary tracks for movies, but for whatever reason his work has often been shelved. He refers to this as the Creepy Commentary Curse™, but right now, at least for BD Live users who bought Survival of the Dead on Blu-Ray, the curse has been broken!
Magnet Pictures has uploaded a special commentary track for the movie to the BD Live server so if you want to check it out, all you have to do is pop in the disc, say YES to an automatic update when prompted, and then click on BD Live and hit download. After a couple of minutes the commentary will appear under the film's special features as if it was always there. Totally simple.
To my knowledge this is the first time in the history of BD Live that it's actually been used for something cool. On to the official word!
From the Press Release:
Magnolia Home Entertainment released its very first feature commentary earmarked and created exclusively for BD Live today as a part of its latest release, Survival of the Dead, now available on Blu-ray and DVD. Longtime friends George A. Romero and Steve ‘Uncle Creepy’ Barton chat about the film, the horror genre, and life in general. A comfortable and hilarious commentary, the feature plays out like two friends catching up and also represents a side of George that few fans have ever seen.
Survival of the Dead is the newest film from George A. Romero (creator of the Night of the Living Dead franchise) and picks up where Diary of the Dead leaves off – in a nightmarish world where humans are the minority and zombies rule. Off the coast of Delaware sits cozy Plum Island, where two families have been feuding for generations. The O’Flynns approach the zombie plague with a shoot-to-kill attitude. The Muldoons insist that the zombies should be quarantined and kept “alive” in hopes that a solution will someday be found. What ensues is a gory and desperate struggle for survival and the search for the answer to the question: Can the living ever exist in peace with the dead?
The two-disc Survival of the Dead Ultimate Undead Edition DVD and single disc Blu-ray are bursting with bonus features that take viewers deeper into the world of the living dead, including the “Walking After Midnight” documentary, interviews with Romero, an audio commentary, and much more and will be available for the suggested retail price of $29.98 each. The film also will be available as a standard edition DVD for the suggested retail price of $26.98.
Accessible through the Blu-ray format only, the feature commentary is available via download through BD Live.
