True Blood Leads the Pack in Ratings for Cable
In what's surely no surprise to anyone who is a fan of the series, the Season 3 premiere of Alan Ball's "True Blood" towered over its cable competition last Sunday night with 5.1 million viewers, a 38 percent increase over the show's Season 2 debut.
Per TV by the Numbers its closest competition was the Disney Channel's "Sonny with a Chance" at 3.6 million viewers. (Guess we know what the kids were doing while mom and dad were fangbanging!) Plus, when you factor in the Sunday night encore broadcast, "True Blood" drew a total of 6.4 million viewers overall (source: TVGuide.com).
Next week's episode is entitled "Beautifully Broken". Will it match the premiere's numbers? Here's the synopsis: Russell Edgington, the Vampire King of Mississippi, concocts a plan to consolidate his power; Eric remembers his past; Sam tests the strength of his family bonds; and Tara finds an ally in a shady vampire named Franklin Mott. It was written by Raelle Tucker and directed by Scott Winant. Check out its preview below, and visit HBO's official "True Blood" website for more!
