Sector 7 Coming Packed with Japanese Creatures in 3D
And the monster movies thankfully keep on coming! This time the team behind the Korean classic The Host, CJ Entertainment, are looking to finance a new Japanese creature feature entitled Sector 7 aka Mining Area 7 or Je Chil Gwanggu for you purists.
According to Sci-Fi Japan Sector 7, which will be shot in 3D, follows the events surrounding what happens when a mutated deep sea creature runs amok in an oil rig. Though horrific, it can't possibly be worse than what we've got going on here in the Gulf for god's sake.
Award-winning actress Ha Ji-won is slated to star for director Youn Je-kyun (pictured right). Big thanks to DC reader Avery for the heads-up! Look for more on this one as soon as it comes.

Wow, I'm genuinely surprised to see any negativity geared towards the Host. I think that movie is damned near perfect of it's type (although I will say it's better to watch it in Korean with English subtitles since the American dubbing was atrocious). That final shot where he and the boy are in the noodle shack by the Han during winter was both powerful and haunting. And I thought the creature looked amazing. I appreciated that they didn't make it a Godzilla sized monstrosity.
Important lesson I learned from The Host: Whatever you do, never, ever listen to your headphones while there's a mass panic unfolding all around you.

I thought The Host was hugely overrated, clumsy and stretched. I also didn't enjoy the very computer generated creature.

"The Host" actually was an excellent little mad monster flick. The rampage scene is incredible, and the whole themes of family coming together to save their own was mindblowing. That final scene with the bow and arrow was rocking. Loved it.

I watched it once and maybe I'll watch it again in 10 years or so. Maybe not.

For what? It's an average monster movie. There's quite a few of them that I'd wanna watch instead but maybe when I completely forget about it I'll remember it being cooler than it is and watch it again. That usually takes a decade or more to happen.
