We’ve got some new updates coming out of Rock and Shock. One story involves a new celebrity guest, and the other concerns a promotion for servicemen and women, including police officers, firefighters and EMTs, attending the festival.

Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts has been added to the constantly growing list of Rock and Shock celebrity guests. Roberts will join Michael Berryman, Jonathan Silverman, Chad Verdi and the rest of the Woodhaven Production team for their panel just before the world premiere of Infected on Saturday night. Verdi recently announced that Roberts and Silverman not only star in his next picture, Self Storage, but have both already signed on for a sequel to be shot next year. And, incidentally, fans of Dread Central might be interested to hear that Dread’s own Doctor Gash (that’s me!) will be moderating that main event panel.

Rock and Shock is also proud to announce its “Service Sunday” promotion, which grants free Sunday admission to the festival for any active or retired member of the military, as well as firefighters, EMTs and members of the police force.

Tickets for Rock and Shock are on sale now! For more information visit the official Rock and Shock website, “like” Rock and Shock on Facebook and follow Rock and Shock on Twitter (@rockandshockusa).

From the Press Release
MassConcerts and Rock and Shock, along with the Woodhaven Production Company, are thrilled to welcome Oscar-nominated actor Eric Roberts to this year’s event. Some of Roberts’ movies include The Pope of Greenwich Village, Star 80, The Prophecy 2, The Expendables, The Dark Knight (and let’s not forget Sharktopus). He even starred in The Killers’ video for their mega-hit Mr. Brightside. Roberts will join filmmaker Chad A. Verdi and the entire Woodhaven team for the first sneak peek of their latest film, Self Storage. The special preview will take place just prior to Verdi’s red carpet world premiere of his newest film, Infected.

Roberts will also be signing Self Storage memorabilia at the Woodhaven Productions VIP booth. He will be joining Jonathan Silverman (Weekend at Bernie’s), Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes), Tommy Dreamer (former WWE World Champion), Rosita (WWE Superstar and former TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion), Nick Principe (Laid to Rest) and writer/director Tom DeNucci (Inkubus) at the VIP table.

Additionally, Rock and Shock has announced the return of Service Sunday, which offers free admission to all active and retired military, police, firemen and EMTs who would like to attend the convention on Sunday, October 14. All they have to do is show their service ID at the door, and they can receive up to four free tickets to this year’s Rock and Shock convention. Doors at the DCU Convention Center in Worcester, MA open at 11:00am.

“Service Sunday is returning this year because we still feel it’s important to show our appreciation to our fellow horror fans who put their lives on the line every day,” said Gina Migliozzi, Rock and Shock co-founder. “Offering these amazing people free admission all day on Sunday so they can have fun with friends and family is just our small way of giving back,” she added.

Also returning this year is the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats. They will have handmade cat crafts, beds and toys (all made by their terrific and crafty volunteers) for sale with all proceeds going directly to the shelter. Another non-profit organization represented at this year’s festival will be the sCare Foundation, which draws support from diverse and talented filmmakers, actors and musicians who work in the suspense and horror genres. sCare Foundation offers a vehicle for fans and creators of horror to show their generosity in helping those who need it most. The sCare Foundation’s mission is to alleviate the hardships of poverty and homelessness facing North American youth. By aligning its efforts with several well-established charities with a similar vision, the sCare Foundation will be able to have the greatest impact. Make sure to stop by both charity tables this year and show your support!
