Food Donation Info for Weekend of Horrors Attendees

Food Donation Info for Weekend of Horrors AttendeesAs if the good folks over at Creation aren't doing enough already to ensure that this weekend's con will be a show that fans in attendance will never forget, they're also setting up a donation area for the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank so that said fans can do their part to give back to the community.

Creation Entertainment's Weekend of Horrors (May 21st to 23rd at the Marriott Los Angeles Airport) is facilitating contributions to a worthy charity, the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank, by asking attendees to bring nonperishable food items to place in the Foodbank barrels located across from Registration.

Much needed food items include:

• canned protein such as tuna, sardines, stew, soups
• peanut butter & Jelly
• canned fruits & vegetables
• fruit juices
• staples such as beans, rice, pasta
• personal care items including lotion, deodorant, toothpaste

I used to live across from a food bank distribution site. From, my balcony I could watch people drive up in their cars, park and get in line to collect food. Many of the people in line were smoking and drinking beer.

So they can't afford food but they can afford booze, cigarettes a car and the expensive insurance that goes along with it.

Translation: Most of the people in that line were raping the system.

Of course I'm in Canada, maybe things are different with US food banks.

This should be done at EVERY con. Great idea though.
