Christopher Smith’s Black Death Gets a Trailer - The Infection Begins to Spread!

With health care being a raging topic nowadays, I think we should all take a moment to be thankful that we're not living way back when plagues, leech treatments, torture devices, and doctors who believed more in magic than they did medicine were commonplace. Though leeches are still kind of fun. They make really sweet squishy noises, too.

The trailer for Black Death starring Sean Bean was released today via Revolver, and things are looking appropriately dreary. Dig on it below.

Christopher Smith's latest genre offering, Black Death, will be hitting UK cinemas on May 28th, and of course since there are no pretty MTV marketable teens attached, we can probably expect it to be plopped onto DVD here in the States sometime in the near future.

"Medieval England has fallen under the shadow of The Black Death. In this apocalyptic world filled with fear and superstition, a young monk called Osmund is charged with leading the fearsome knight Ulric (Sean Bean) and his group of mercenaries to a remote marsh. Their quest is to hunt down a necromancer - someone able to bring the dead back to life. Torn between his love of God and the love of a young woman, Osmund discovers the necromancer, a mysterious beauty called Langiva. After Langiva reveals her Satanic identity and offers Osmund his heart's desire, the horror of his real journey begins..."

I am completely hyped for this. So far Smith is 3 for 3. Also I vaguely remember (and I could be wrong) that this is a script from the same writer who gave us 'Wilderness'. The combination of talents bodes well for a gripping film.

I'm a big fan of Smith as well. Add in Sean Bean, and on the surface at least it's a pretty unbeatable combination.
