On the Black Carpet at the A Nightmare on Elm Street Premiere

While traffic on Hollywood Boulevard is always a nightmare on any given night, it was the "Black Carpet Premiere" for Platinum Dunes' A Nightmare on Elm Street that really stopped traffic this past Tuesday evening, and of course Dread Central's red carpet team of Heather Wixson and Brian Smith were on hand to talk with cast members about their feelings on this new direction and vision of Freddy Krueger.

Outside the historic Grauman's Chinese Theater a new wave of Freddy Mania began on April 27th as those involved with the A Nightmare on Elm Street reboot, some familiar faces from the original Nightmare film series, and other genre faves were on hand to celebrate the impending release of the film later this week. We heard from Freddy himself, Jackie Earle Haley, as well as Clancy Brown, Connie Britton, and Kyle Gallner. Rooney Mara and Thomas Dekker were both out to support the project as well.

We also had the opportunity to speak with director Samuel Bayer and Platinum Dunes producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, who talked to us about the direction of this new era of Freddy Krueger.

Despite this being Freddy's night, that didn't stop Derek Mears (Mr. Voorhees himself) from stopping by and chatting with us about his thoughts on the Friday the 13th Part Two stalemate and how it felt to be a part of the upcoming flick Predators. He also speculated on who'd win in a battle between his Jason and Haley's Freddy.

In terms of those whom the original Freddy stalked, we caught up with some familiar faces to genre fans, including Ken Sagoes (Kincaid, Dream Warriors, Dream Master), Lisa Wilcox (Alice, Dream Master, Dream Child), and Ricky Dean Logan (Carlos, Freddy's Dead). If you look closely, you can even see Ira Heiden (Will, Dream Warriors) in the background, too.

Other familiar faces on hand included uber-producer Michael Bay, Shannon Elizabeth, and Kendra Wilkinson.

Check out our two-fold video coverage below. The first contains some great red carpet coverage paying tribute to Platinum Dunes' A Nightmare on Elm Street. The second video is for all you fans of the original series. We wax nostalgic with Sagoes, Wilcox, and Logan on what makes being a part of the Elm Street legacy so amazing.

Sit a spell, and watch Dread Central's video coverage below, and make sure to check out A Nightmare on Elm Street when it hits theaters on April 30th (click here to reserve your tickets on Fandango.com).

I've read two reviews now and both of them say exactly what I was expecting.

No story, no characters, lots of 'emo' (whatever the fuck that is) attitude.
