Emile Hirsch Comes In From the Wild to Deal With The Darkest Hour
One up and coming actor we are always happy to see getting work is Into the Wild's Emile Hirsch. The guy brings a real believability to his roles, and to have him treading around our genre can only lead to good stuff.
According to Variety Hirsch has joined the previously announced Olivia Thirlby in Chris Gorak's alien chiller The Darkest Hour. The film finds New Regency partnering with Summit Entertainment to bring us a 28 Days Later-like thriller about a group of kids struggling to survive in Russia after an alien invasion.
Russian director Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Night Watch) will be serving as producer, and the film will be shooting in Russia this summer at Bekmambetov's own personal facilities.

I'm a big fan of Hirsch. I didn't love "Into the Wild," but he owned the role. And I thought he was very good in "Speed Racer" and "Alpha Dog."

I can NOT bring myself to watch SPEED RACER. I got a headache just from watching the trailers/tv spots. Funny, cause I was a loyal viewer of the cartoon as a child.

In spite of being way too long, "Speed Racer" is a good movie. They took a bad cartoon and gave it some vision and eye appeal. And the casting was great.
