Alexandre Aja on Piranha 3D's Blood, Boobs, More Blood & Yes, Even More Boobs!
The jury's still out on whether Alexandre Aja's Piranha 3D is going to contain more real horror than cheesy '80s-style comedy, but according to the director it should be a perfect mix of both. As he said in a recent interview, "Yes, it's super gory; yes, it's super scary; but it's also super fun."
A new type of terror is about to be cut loose on beautiful Lake Victoria. After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area’s new razor-toothed residents. But our heroine (Elisabeth Shue) is seriously outnumbered, and with only one chance to save the lake and her family from totally being devoured, she must risk everything to destroy the aquatic carnivores herself."
As part of MTV News' week of 3D film coverage, Aja recently chatted with them about the perils of converting his film to 3D rather than shooting with 3D cameras, breaking records for the most blood ever spilled in a film, and why he insists on having 3D nudity onscreen. Here are a few highlights:
Come August 27th we'll see if the director made the movie the fans would love to see.
